Reading Allison's blog post over on her blog Chameleon really inspired me to take my recent health overhaul seriously. . .this time. For the last month or so, I've been more serious about diet and exercise, more so exercise though. Could the oncoming summer months where we'll be likely to bare our arms and legs be a great motivator? Of course it is. But I honestly want to stick to a healthier eating regimen just for sake of health. Who would have thunk it? Recently, I ordered Jeanette Jenkins', also known as "The Hollywood Trainer's" "Bikini Bootcamp" DVD after extensively reading reviews about it. I found out about her on Twitter, where she gives health tips and encouraging thoughts throughout the day. I wanted to kick my hum drum cardio into overdrive since summer will be here before I can say "bicep curl".
Allison's post on going vegan was especially interesting to me because I actually wrote a post in 2009 about Nia Long's partnership with PETA in one of the "I'd rather Go Naked" campaigns. I watched the tear-jerking video of how cruelly the animals were treated and vowed to swear off meat, if only for a little while. I've always been motivated to exercise, but it's the consistent clean eating part that I'm not too great about sticking to. I have learned that when I'm exercising regularly, I tend to make better food choices. It's definitely not always easy though. I know I'm not the only that gets cravings after an hour of intense cardio has kicked my butt! I have a workout plan in mind, but as far the eating part goes, I think I just might take part in this pledge to be vegan for 30 days. The only things I guess I have to lose are a few winter pounds and this sluggishness that always seems to rear its ugly head about six weeks until the end of the semester. Wish me luck!
